Headless for Shopware separates the frontend — everything your customers see — from the Shopware backend, which continues to manage products, orders, and checkout. The frontend connects via the Shopware Storefront API and Admin API and can be designed freely, without Twig theme limits and with full performance control.
Shopware continues to manage products, categories, stock, orders, taxes, and checkout. You use the Shopware administration your team already knows — no new workflows, no training.
Instead of the Twig storefront, you build your storefront with Laioutr Studio — visual, component-based, with full code extensibility for developers.
No data duplication, no sync conflicts, no stale stock. Laioutr talks directly to Shopware's Store API and Admin API.
The Twig storefront is solid for standard setups, but at some point it becomes the bottleneck: a performance ceiling, theme conflicts, an engineering backlog for every seasonal campaign. Shopware Frontends is one alternative, but it requires a dedicated Vue/Nuxt team. Laioutr closes the gap.
Community Edition, Rise, Evolve, or Beyond — Laioutr uses the Storefront API included in every edition. You save yourself edition upgrades you don't necessarily need.
Unlike page builder plugins, products, categories, and stock are not copied or mirrored. Shopware remains the single source of truth.
The classic Twig storefront is performance-limited. With a component-based frontend at Lighthouse-100 level, you gain SEO ranking and conversion rate.
Marketing builds landing pages independently in Studio. Developers extend components or build new ones. Both teams work on the same platform without blocking each other.
One platform for multiple brands, multiple countries, multiple languages — with localized layouts, assortments, and languages. Scale across Europe without a new frontend build per market.
The Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (German Accessibility Reinforcement Act) has been mandatory since 2025 for nearly every commercial online shop in Germany. Laioutr components cover WCAG 3.0, EN 301 549, and BFSG out of the box — no separate audit needed.
Laioutr is designed for storefronts that change regularly — from the seasonal landing page to the full headless storefront with a multi-market setup.
Black Friday, summer sale, product launch — unlimited campaign pages, without landing in the engineering backlog.
One Shopware backend, many storefronts. Languages, currencies, layouts, and assortments can be controlled per market, compatible with Shopware's sales channel concept.
PDPs that suit the product — bundles, configurators, AR previews, B2B specifications — instead of a rigid theme layout.
Shopware B2B Suite + Laioutr frontend: customer-group-specific assortments, custom pricing logic, restricted visibility, net terms — all controlled via the Shopware admin.
Multiple brands on a single Shopware instance with independent frontends, their own domains, their own identity — one platform, multiple brand presences.
Hero tests, layout variants, product-sorting experiments — all configurable within Studio, without a code deploy.
Shopware Frontends is Shopware's official headless frontend project — open source, Nuxt 3 / Vue 3, very strong if you have a well-drilled Vue team that enjoys building from the ground up. Laioutr is a complete Frontend Management Platform with a visual builder, a component library, and integrated EU hosting. Both work with Shopware. If you want to launch quickly and work with cross-functional teams, Laioutr makes you more productive. If you want to avoid Shopware lock-in, all the more so.

All data is based on publicly available information, experience from sales conversations with DACH e-commerce brands, and our own platform testing. As of April 2026. Shopware features may have evolved since.
You have a dedicated Vue team with Nuxt experience, you're building exactly one Shopware storefront, you want to code every design decision yourself — and platform lock-in to Shopware is strategically fine.
You want weeks instead of months to go-live, marketing should build pages independently, you're planning multi-brand or multi-market scaling, and switching backends in a few years shouldn't cost you a new frontend.
