How emtii Digital got its consultancy site online fast and kept it in its own hands

The Challenge
emtii Digital is an interim management and consulting firm in Berlin. Its website has one job: explain what the firm does, show where it has done it, and make it easy to get in touch. There is no catalogue, no checkout, no system to integrate. The requirement is a good corporate site and the ability to keep it current.
That sounds simple and usually is not. A consultancy of this size has two unattractive options. It hires an agency, and then every reworded service description, every new reference and every note about a finished assignment becomes a small invoice and a wait. Or it takes a website builder and accepts the ceiling that comes with it: templates that shape the content instead of carrying it, and a site that looks like the template it came from. Neither fits a business whose website is a credibility document.
The Solution
The site runs on Laioutr, built from the same component library as the storefronts. Nothing about the platform is scaled down for it; the difference is only in what this site needs. Services, the case studies from past interim assignments, the track record and the contact route are composed as sections rather than poured into a template.
Content is edited by Marcel Thiesies himself in Laioutr Studio. A new reference, a sharper service description, a note on a finished assignment: those are changes he makes and publishes, without a ticket, an agency or a release date.
The site can also grow without being rebuilt. A news area, further pages and, if it ever became relevant, commerce functionality are additions to the same site rather than reasons to start over.
“The site was online fast, and for me that was the point. I adjust my handful of topics myself and put them live, without needing anyone for it. For a consultancy that does not run a big website, that is exactly the right size.”
Marcel Thiesies, Managing Director, emtii Digital GmbH
Why it worked
It went online quickly, and for a business of this size that is most of the value. The site was doing its job while a comparable agency project would still have been in its second round of feedback.
Since then it has stayed current, which is the part that usually fails. A consultancy site goes stale not because nobody wants to update it but because updating it is inconvenient. Here the person who knows what changed is the person who changes it.
It is deliberately a small reference. But it runs on the same platform as a catalogue of 84,000 products and a storefront that joins three booking systems, and that is the point: the frontend layer is not sized to the ambition of a project, it is sized to what the project actually needs.
