What is DatoCMS?

DatoCMS is a cloud-hosted headless content management system in the CMS category. It offers a structured content modeling API, a real-time preview infrastructure, and a GraphQL content delivery API, making it a common choice for development teams building composable frontends that need flexible, schema-driven content without managing server infrastructure.

How it works

DatoCMS provides a web-based model builder where teams define content types and field structures. Authors create and edit content records through a responsive editing interface with real-time validation. Content is delivered through a versioned GraphQL API with CDN caching, and webhooks notify downstream systems on content changes. Localization and multi-environment publishing are available out of the box.

DatoCMS with Laioutr

DatoCMS is planned for the Laioutr App Store. Once available, it will allow teams to feed structured, schema-validated content from DatoCMS's GraphQL API into Laioutr's Composable Visual Page Builder, giving editors visual control over layouts that are driven by structured content fields rather than freeform HTML. Within a Composable Digital Experience Platform architecture on Laioutr, DatoCMS serves as a clean Content Management source that keeps authoring, delivery, and presentation concerns separated.
