dotCMS

What is dotCMS?

dotCMS is an open-source, Java-based hybrid content management system in the CMS category. It supports both traditional coupled page rendering and headless API delivery from the same content repository, making it suitable for teams that need to serve content across legacy page templates and modern composable frontends simultaneously.

How it works

dotCMS provides structured content types, a visual layout editor for page rendering, and a REST and GraphQL API for headless delivery. Content editors work in a browser-based UI with drag-and-drop page composition. The platform supports multi-site management, workflow-based content approval, and asset management with built-in image transformation capabilities.

dotCMS with Laioutr

dotCMS is planned for the Laioutr App Store. Once available, it will let teams consume dotCMS content through Laioutr's Composable Visual Page Builder, enabling editors to assemble composable pages from dotCMS-managed structured content without rebuilding the content layer. The headless API delivery from dotCMS fits directly into Laioutr's Content Management and Composable Digital Experience Platform model, where content sourcing and frontend presentation are handled as independent, replaceable layers.
