What is Google Vertex AI?

Google Vertex AI is a managed machine learning platform categorised under search and recommendations. It provides model training, serving infrastructure, and a suite of pre-built AI services including product recommendations, embeddings, and search APIs relevant to digital commerce and content operations. Teams use it to operationalise ML models at scale without managing the underlying compute infrastructure.

How it works

Vertex AI exposes recommendation and search capabilities through REST APIs. For ecommerce, Retail API endpoints accept user event data and return personalised product rankings or search results based on collaborative filtering and deep learning models. Teams can fine-tune models with their own data, define business rules to constrain recommendation outputs, and monitor model performance through integrated evaluation tooling.

Google Vertex AI with Laioutr

Google Vertex AI is planned for the Laioutr App Store. On the Agentic Frontend Management Platform, connecting Vertex AI recommendation outputs to content slots and product carousels in Laioutr-managed layouts enables a data-driven personalisation layer that scales with traffic. Once available, teams working with the B2C Growth Kit can route Personalization decisions through Vertex AI models, grounding algorithmic recommendations in the same composable frontend that surfaces them to visitors.
