What is Harness?

Harness is a software delivery platform that provides CI/CD pipelines, feature flags, cloud cost management, and reliability tooling. Its feature flag module allows engineering teams to deploy code to production and control feature rollout separately, decoupling the release of code from the release of a feature to users.

How it works

Harness is planned for the Laioutr App Store as an integration connecting its feature flag and deployment pipeline to the Composable Headless Frontend. Frontend component releases managed through Harness can gate on feature flag state, so a new component is deployed to the edge but only rendered for a defined segment of visitors until the flag is flipped. Once available, frontend engineers can manage component rollout through Harness's flag interface without separate frontend configuration changes.

Harness with Laioutr

Performance and Core Web Vitals monitoring on the Composable Headless Frontend provides the signal that determines whether a Harness feature flag rollout is proceeding safely. If a new component variant degrades LCP or CLS scores during a phased rollout, the Performance and Core Web Vitals data available in Laioutr gives the team an early indicator before the flag reaches full traffic.
