What is Liferay?

Liferay is an open-source digital experience platform providing a portal and CMS foundation for building intranets, customer portals, and commerce experiences. It offers a tightly integrated environment for content management, user authentication, workflow, and site building, deployed on-premise or in the cloud. Enterprise organisations use Liferay where deep customisation and on-premise control are priorities.

How it works

Liferay is planned for the Laioutr App Store. Once available, content and data managed within Liferay portals can be connected to the Composable Visual Page Builder and the Content Management layer of the Composable Digital Experience Platform. This allows organisations with established Liferay deployments to introduce a composable frontend layer without replacing their Liferay content and workflow backend.

Enterprise organisations running Liferay for intranet, partner portal, or commerce use cases that want to modernise their frontend delivery architecture are the primary audience. Connecting Liferay's content and user data APIs to the Composable Digital Experience Platform gives frontend teams independent iteration speed while the Liferay backend continues to serve as the content and user management layer. Teams managing multi-portal deployments through Liferay can use the Content Management connector to route structured content from individual portal contexts to composable frontend experiences.
