What is Nextcloud?

Nextcloud is an open-source collaboration and file management platform that organisations self-host to retain full data sovereignty. It provides file storage, sharing, calendar, and collaboration tools under a single EU-hosted deployment. For digital experience teams, it functions as a Content Management repository for assets and documents that need to be stored on infrastructure the organisation controls.

How it works

Nextcloud exposes files and folders via WebDAV and REST APIs, making it queryable from external systems. The Composable Digital Experience Platform can retrieve approved assets or documents from a Nextcloud instance and serve them in page components, keeping content creation and storage within the organisation's own infrastructure while the frontend handles presentation and delivery optimisation.

Nextcloud with Laioutr

Nextcloud is planned for the Laioutr App Store. Once available, teams will be able to connect their self-hosted Nextcloud instance to the platform and use it as an asset source for page components without transferring files to a third-party CDN.
