What is OneTrust?
OneTrust is a privacy, security, and data governance platform that helps organisations comply with global data protection regulations including GDPR, CCPA, and the LGPD. It provides tooling for consent management, cookie compliance, privacy notices, data subject request workflows, and vendor risk assessments. OneTrust is used on websites and web applications to control the collection and processing of personal data in line with applicable legal requirements.
How it works
OneTrust's Consent Management Platform (CMP) injects a cookie banner or preference centre into web properties. When a visitor grants or withdraws consent, the CMP records that decision and signals connected tags and scripts accordingly, typically via a data layer event or direct integration with tag managers. Consent state is stored per user and jurisdiction. The platform provides a compliance dashboard for auditing consent records and managing data subject requests. It also includes a vendor scanning feature that detects cookies and trackers on a given domain.
OneTrust with Laioutr
Integration of OneTrust with Laioutr is planned. When available, OneTrust consent signals will be consumed by Laioutr's frontend layer to conditionally activate or suppress tracking scripts, personalization logic, and third-party embeds based on the visitor's consent choices, without requiring custom consent-gate implementations in each frontend component.
The planned integration is relevant within the Composable Digital Experience Platform architecture, where multiple data sources and personalization vendors require coordinated consent enforcement. Laioutr's WCAG Ready components are designed to work alongside consent management layers, ensuring that accessibility requirements are met regardless of consent state.
