OpenWidget
What is OpenWidget?
OpenWidget is an open-source customer engagement widget platform that provides live chat, product cards, FAQ embeds, and contact form components for websites. It is designed to be self-hosted or cloud-deployed and integrates with various CRM and helpdesk backends. Teams building on a Composable Headless Frontend use widget layers like OpenWidget to add interactive engagement components without coupling the frontend to a proprietary chat vendor.
How it works
OpenWidget embeds via a JavaScript snippet or can be rendered as a native component in frameworks supported by the Composable Digital Experience Platform. Widget configuration, including chat routing, FAQ content, and product card data sources, is managed in OpenWidget's admin interface. The composable rendering model means widget placement and visibility rules can be controlled at the component level, not just globally per page.
OpenWidget with Laioutr
OpenWidget is planned for the Laioutr App Store. Once available, teams will be able to embed OpenWidget components into their page layouts directly from the platform's component library, without adding third-party embed code manually to each template.
