What is Therefore?

Therefore is a document management and business process automation platform from Canon. It manages the lifecycle of business documents, including capture, classification, storage, retrieval, and archiving, with workflow automation for document-centric processes such as invoice handling, contract management, and compliance filing. Organisations use it to replace manual document routing with structured workflows that enforce retention policies, approval sequences, and access controls.

How it works

Therefore captures documents from scanners, email, and web upload, applies optical character recognition and configurable classification rules to index content, and routes documents to workflow queues based on extracted metadata. Process workflows are configured in a visual designer that defines task assignments, escalation rules, and conditional branching. Documents and their process history are stored in an auditable repository accessible through the web client or API.

Therefore is planned for the Laioutr App Store. Once available, it will connect to the Content Management layer of the Composable Digital Experience Platform, enabling structured business documents to be referenced or surfaced within composable frontend experiences where relevant. Teams that manage document-heavy workflows alongside their digital presence can use this integration to bridge internal document management and external content delivery through a shared data connection.
