Umbraco
What is Umbraco?
Umbraco is an open-source .NET-based content management system categorised under CMS. It provides a flexible editorial interface, a content tree model, and a set of delivery APIs that allow content to be consumed headlessly by any frontend framework. Umbraco is widely deployed across European digital teams for editorial websites, intranets, and content-heavy commerce storefronts.
How it works
Umbraco stores content as structured nodes with customisable document types and properties. The Content Delivery API exposes these nodes as JSON, allowing frontend frameworks to fetch and render content independently from the CMS rendering engine. Media management, multilingual content trees, and role-based editorial workflows are all handled within the Umbraco back office.
Umbraco with Laioutr
Umbraco is planned for the Laioutr App Store. The integration connects Umbraco's Content Management layer to the Composable Visual Page Builder, giving editorial teams a path to manage content in Umbraco while composing and previewing page layouts within the Laioutr editor. Once available, teams working on the Composable Digital Experience Platform can treat Umbraco as a structured content source alongside other connected backends, without duplicating content modelling work.
