MANAGEMENT API FOR WRITE ACCESS

One access point to bring systems together and write into the platform.

External systems can centrally create and maintain routes and content in Laioutr through the Management API – via Orchestr, without a big IT project.

The Management API is the writing counterpart to the Delivery API. Through it, you can essentially write everything, into our content management system, into the frontend, and into the CDN, which sit behind one or several adapters in the background. From a developer's perspective, this creates a central entry point to bring different systems together and make modern digital customer communication technologically possible in the first place, without huge IT projects.

Frontend first

Digital customer communication needs more than one system

CMS, frontend, CDN, and backend systems rarely come from a single source. For content to still reach everywhere, something needs to technically bring these systems together, otherwise every change stays a manual puzzle.

Integration projects today are often too big and too rigid

Every new system that needs connecting quickly turns into its own IT project. A central, write-enabled entry point reduces exactly that effort, instead of starting from scratch for every connection.

Adapters instead of custom integrations

Instead of building a custom integration for every backend, the Management API connects systems through adapters – interchangeable, depending on what the project or product actually needs.

The definition

What is the Management API at Laioutr?

The Management API is the writing counterpart to the Delivery API. Through it, you can essentially write everything into the platform: structured content into our content management system, configuration into the frontend, and assets into the CDN, which sit behind one or several adapters in the background.

From a developer's perspective, that creates a central entry point to technically bring external systems together with Laioutr. It follows a similar principle to our canonical data model, deliberately reduced though: enough structure to connect the widest range of backend systems interchangeably, without needing a dedicated IT project for every integration.

Schema foundation from Studio

Every content type you create in Studio automatically gets a clear schema. The Management API validates every write against exactly that schema, so every connected system knows which fields are expected.

What that means:
No writing blindly into the void, just structured, validated changes.

Reduced, not overloaded

Instead of mapping every conceivable data model, the Management API follows a deliberately reduced principle, similar to our canonical data model, but lean enough to integrate quickly.

What that means:
Enough structure for real integrations, without the effort of a huge IT project.

Write access, deliberately controlled

Write access doesn't mean uncontrolled access. Permissions and validation apply to every change, regardless of which system triggers it.

What that means:
External systems can create and update, but only within clearly set boundaries.

Backend agnosticism through adapters

Because Orchestr connects systems through adapters, the Management API can route write access to whichever backend fits, whether a CMS, a frontend, or a CDN sits behind it.

What that means:
One central entry point, no matter how many systems work in the background.

Images and media included

Write access at Laioutr doesn't stop at text. Images, graphics, and other media can be created and updated through the same interface as structured data.

What that means:
One API to maintain all of your content, not two separate paths for text and images.

How system integration evolved

The Management API isn't an invention out of nowhere, it's the deliberate simplification of an integration landscape that kept getting more complex.

2000–2010

Generation 1

Point-to-point integration

Could: Connect two systems directly with each other. Fast to implement for a single use case.

Couldn't: Scale. Every new connection meant a new custom integration, the number of connections exploded with every added system.

Typical: Custom scripts, direct database access, one-off interfaces.

2010–2018

Generation 2

Middleware & iPaaS

Could: Connect systems through a central integration layer. Fewer one-off solutions than before.

Couldn't: Stay simple. Middleware platforms became complex systems themselves, requiring their own teams and specialized expertise.

Typical: MuleSoft, Boomi, classic enterprise service buses.

2018–2025

Generation 3

API-led Connectivity

Could: Reusable APIs instead of one-off integrations. More standardization between systems.

Couldn't: Keep the effort small. Every new connection still needed its own API development, its own governance, its own project.

Typical: API gateways, individually developed REST and GraphQL interfaces per system.

2025+

Generation 4

Adapter-based Management API

Can today: Write centrally into CMS, frontend, and CDN through Orchestr and adapters, without starting a dedicated IT project for every connection.

Deliberately reduced: Not a full enterprise integration framework, but exactly the structure that enables interchangeable connections.

Typical: Laioutr Management API.

Every generation made integration a bit simpler and built new complexity along the way. The Management API deliberately takes the step toward reduction: enough structure to bring systems together, without becoming the next big IT project itself.

USE CASES

What you can build with the Management API

Because the Management API centrally bundles write access to content, frontend, and CDN, many different use cases arise from it, depending on which systems you want to bring together.

The examples below show the range, from content maintenance to full system orchestration in the background.

Create content centrally

An external system can create new content directly in Laioutr, instead of taking the detour of manual double maintenance.

Manage routes centrally

New pages or paths can be created and maintained through the Management API, centrally instead of spread across several tools.

Connect backend systems directly

An ERP, PIM, or other backend system can be connected directly to the platform through an adapter, without developing something new for every connection.

Write frontend configuration

Not just content, configuration in the frontend can also be created and updated through the same interface.

Update CDN assets centrally

Images and other assets in the CDN can be maintained directly through the Management API, without a separate upload process per system.

Start without a big IT project

Because the Management API relies on a reduced, canonical principle, a first connection is quick to implement, instead of demanding months of integration work.

Architecture

How the Management API is built technically

For the tech leads in the room: the Management API is built on the same canonical principle as our data model, deliberately reduced though. External systems write into the CMS, frontend, or CDN through Orchestr and the matching adapters, every change gets validated against the Studio schema.

Honestly, this isn't a full enterprise integration framework with years of maturity. But it delivers exactly the structure needed for reliable, interchangeable system integration, and it keeps growing with real requirements.

FOR WHOM

Who is the Management API relevant for?

Teams with several backend systems

A fit if:
You want to connect several systems like ERP, PIM, or CRM to your platform.

You want to avoid duplicate maintenance between backend and frontend.

You're looking for one central write access instead of many one-off integrations.

Teams with tight integration budgets

A fit if:
You want to reduce integration effort instead of starting a new project for every connection.

You want interchangeable adapters instead of hard-wired custom solutions.

You're looking for a platform that grows with your systems instead of replacing them.

Teams looking for a simple starting point

A fit if:
You want to modernize without kicking off a huge IT project.

You need exactly the integration functionality your use case requires, nothing more.

You prefer honesty about the current feature scope over a feature arms race.

FAQ

The Management API is new, so questions come up — we answer the most important ones here

Essentially everything administered on your Laioutr platform: structured content into our content management system, configuration in the frontend, and assets in the CDN, connected through one or several adapters. Every change gets validated against the Studio schema.

Technically possible, but not its actual purpose. For read access, there's the Delivery API, which specializes exactly in that. The Management API is designed for writing.

Yes, that's exactly what it's built for. Whether ERP, PIM, CRM, or another system – as long as a matching adapter exists or can be built, it can be connected to the platform through the Management API.

Yes. Images and other media can be created and updated through the same interface as structured content, metadata included.

Honestly, not in full feature scope, those are established middleware products with years of a head start and their own team requirements. The Management API deliberately covers, in reduced form, exactly the functionality needed for reliable, interchangeable integration.

No. The Management API works independently of whichever frontend ends up displaying the content. You can just as well use it to connect a completely separate or third-party system with Laioutr.

Preferably in a conversation. We'll look together at which systems you want to bring together, and show you how quickly a first connection through the Management API can be up and running.
